Full course description
Overview
This is a 6-week course focused on the process of actively building anti-racist teaching approaches in public health. The course begins with foundational understandings of racism, anti-racism, and how they relate to public health and teaching. It then focuses on building an anti-racist mindset in public health. Participants will apply the knowledge gained in the course to their own teaching or training materials, including; syllabi, curriculum, and assessments.
Content and ideas in this MOOC are drawn from the design team's own experiences and scholarship, and are informed by research on anti-racist teaching.
Goals of the course
The space between claiming to value anti-racism and putting it into practice in public health is wide. The goal of this course is to narrow that space by equipping public health educators and practitioners with specific knowledge and tools to build an anti-racist teaching practice. This course is especially designed for public health teachers, educators, leaders, faculty, trainers, and managers who are responsible for instruction or training of any kind. It may also be useful for teachers of all kinds, especially those in fields related to health.
